Since the earliest beginnings of medicine, prevention has always been the more logical and more effective approach to maintaining health and reducing the burden of disease. Nonetheless, cure forever seems to occupy pride of place in terms of social acknowledgement and resource allocation. This attitude is perilous in an epoch in which early precursors often determine the irreversible late stages of chronic disease.
