Abstract
The primary objective of this paper is to present an overview of treatment of the chronically mentally ill in a community residential setting. Strategies for assessment, case management and work with family support groups, as well as research data and the instruments utilized, will be presented. The major outcome has been measurement of the client’s progress and subsequent placement in the least restrictive environment, resulting in a unique cost effective community program.
