Abstract

Informatics and organization theory provide an essential theoretical reference framework for the design of medical information systems. A system theoretical approach to the design of systems highlights the fact that the hitherto predominant analytical method in the development of information systems does not take into account the organizational and social problems involved. Needed is a social system design, a synthetic approach.
