Abstract

After the publication by American and Australian authors of the results obtained in their collaborative study on mild arterial hypertension (1, 2, 3, 4), the use of antihypertensive drugs is increasing, in spite of the European reticence. But is important to answer the question ”do the benefits of this medication outweigh the possible side effects”? For this reason, a collaborative study about the prevalence and the incidence of side effects of antihypertensive medication was undertaken in hospitals and primary care medical facilities.
