Summary
Eight subjects participated in exercise tests on two different treadmills with and without connection to an open Spirometrie system. Another examination took place on a synthetic track (Rekortan), beginning at a speed of 2.6 m/s and with an increase of 0.4 m/s every 5.5 minutes to subjective exhaustion.
The most important results were:
1. Between the two treadmills there was a significant difference in lactic acid levels and heart frequency. At the aerobic-anaerobic threshold (corresponding to 4 mmol/;l lactate) the difference was 0.4 m/s.
2. The lactic acid levels from the track runs were between the values from the runs on the two treadmills.
3. The lactate concentrations from tests with mask and connection to a spirometer are significantly higher than those without spirometry. The differences in heart frequency were insignificant.
