Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff MAC wurde in den Jahren 1963–1965 durch Saidman u. Eger in die anästhesiologische Praxis eingeführt. Vor allem Eger verband mit diesem Begriff die Hoffnung, die später auch zu seiner Überzeugung wurde, die anästhetische Potenz eines Inhalationsanästhetikums definieren zu können, indem er für diesen Zweck die Benutzung des reziproken Wertes der MAC vorschlug.
