Infected Pseudarthrosis — Treat the Infection First

Conference paper

Abstract

Infected pseudarthrosis represents a combination of problems due to various and mostly serious pathologic conditions that act in a vicious circle. Functional and permanent healing can hardly be achieved without controlling all aspects (Waldvogel and Vasey, 1980). To escape this dilemma, a secondary healing with the development of chronic osteomyelitis is often accepted or amputation is even suggested as an unavoidable final solution.
