Zusammenfassung

In diesem Übersichtsartikel sind die naturwissenschaftlichen und klinischen Ergebnisse über Anthralin zusammengefaßt worden, um einen Überblick über dieses altbewährte antipsoriatische Lokaltherapeuticum zu gewähren. Neben der Chemie und Biochemie wird auf Untersuchungen zur Galenik, zur Pharmakokinetik und zum Metabolismus dieses Medikaments eingegangen. Ausführlich werden auch die Wirkungsweise des Anthralins auf cellulärer und molekularer Ebene erläutert und neue Behandlungsweisen beschrieben, die auf neuen Erkenntnissen bezüglich der Penetrationskinetiken beruhen.

Summary

In this review, data from fundamental and clinical literature on anthralin have been brought together to provide an overview of this well studied antipsoriatic drug. In addition to chemistry and biochemistry, attention is focused on formulation studies, pharmacokinetics and metabolism of the drug. Details of the action of anthralin at the cellular and molecular levels are highlighted, and novel treatment modalities are described which are based on some new basic considerations of the penetration kinetics in normal and diseased skin.
