Zusammenfassung

In den vergangenen Jahren hat die Konzeption, daß antiphlogistische Analgetika aufgrund der Hemmung der Prostaglandinsynthese wirken, eine zentrale Rolle gespielt. Dieses Konzept hat nicht in jeder Beziehung befriedigen können; denn die “stabilen” Prostaglandine sind keine entscheidenden Entzündungsmediatoren, und die Hemmung ihrer Synthese allein erklärt die Wirksamkeit und die Nebenwirkungen der nichtsteroidalen antiphlogistischen Analgetika nicht. Alternative und ergänzende Konzepte müssen daher in Betracht gezogen werden.
