Abstract

The productivity of forest communities can be considered in economic as well as biological terms. The first relates to the volume of wood to be obtained, the second to the total biomass, or the mass of timber, irrespective of dimensions and usage, with leaves, needles, shrubs, and herbs. In the former case, volume units apply, whereas in the latter, weight and energetic value are measured.
