The HLA System, 1984
The HLA region, though only about one thousandth of the total human genome, continues to challenge us with its complexity and diversity. This summary is intended to give a kaleidoscopic view of the system, biased inevitably by my own prejudices, following the four successive meetings - on molecular genetics in Strasbourg; on biochemical analysis, followed by the Histocompatibility Testing Workshop itself, in Munich; and finally, the conference in Vienna.
