Zusammenfassung

„Auf alle Fälle ist die künstliche Niere ein Verfahren von großer und vielfältiger Wirksamkeit, das endlich auch bei uns, besonders in den großen Kliniken, die entsprechende Würdigung und Anwendung finden sollte“ (Haas 1952). Diesen Satz schrieb 1952 niemand Geringerer als Georg Haas, emeritierter Direktor der Medizinischen Poliklinik Gießen, der bereits 1924 die erste extrakor-porale Hämodialyse an einem urämischen Patienten vorgenommen hatte (Haas 1925).
