Zusammenfassung

Die Entfernung der Appendix kann in Abhängigkeit vom Entzündungsstadium und der Lokalisation der Appendix eine sehr einfache, aber auch eine sehr komplizierte Operation sein. In allen Fällen geht man jedoch nach den gleichen Richtlinien vor. Die wichtigsten Punkte sind eine ausreichende Freilegung, die exakte Blutstillung, die Entfernung der gesamten Appendix und wenn immer möglich, ein dichter Verschluß des Appendixstumpfes. Bei der frühzeitig erkannten akuten Appendizitis sind Antibiotika nicht indiziert, beim Vorliegen eitrigen Exsudats sollten sie jedoch präoperativ und postoperativ eingesetzt werden, um Komplikationen zu vermeiden.
