Zusammenfassung

Das Mammakarzinom ist die häufigste Krebsneubildung bei Frauen. Von 14 Frauen bekommt eine, das heißt 7,1%, ein Mammakarzinom. In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erhöhten sich die Sterbefälle von 10073 im Jahre 1970 auf 12805 im Jahre 1981 (Abb. 1). Diese steigende Tendenz ist in nahezu allen westlichen Zivilisationsländern zu beobachten. In Japan dagegen und den meisten Entwicklungsländern besteht eine unverändert niedrige Mortalitätsrate. Diese beträgt (altersadjustiert pro 100000, Werte von 1976–1977) in Japan 5,7, in Deutschland 25,1, in den USA 27,3. Die höchsten Mortalitätsraten Europas finden sich in Dänemark (33,8), in England und Wales (33,6), in Nordirland (33,0), Irland (32,0) und in den Niederlanden (31,5) (American Cancer Society 1982).
