Zusammenfassung

Es gibt zahlreiche Beobachtungen, die weltweit einen Anstieg der Häufigkeit des Pankreaskarzinoms verzeichnen. Es ist dabei schwer zu beurteilen, ob tatsächlich eine echte Zunahme vorliegt oder ob diese Zunahme auf die bessere Diagnostik und auf eine Alterszunahme der Bevölkerung zurückzuführen ist. Alle statistischen und epidemiologischen Untersuchungen sind jedoch mit dem Nachteil behaftet, daß die Diagnose Pankreaskarzinom nur in 50–70% histologisch bestätigt ist (Gudjonsson et al. 1978; Levin et al. 1981). Nach Levin et al. (1981) hat das Pankreaskarzinom in den USA in den letzten 40 Jahren bei Männern von 7,7 auf 12,5, bei Frauen von 6,1 auf 8,6 Neuerkrankungen pro 100000 Einwohner und Jahr zugenommen. Je nach Rasse ist ein deutlicher Inzidenzunterschied zu beobachten. Bei weiBen Mannern findet man 11,9, bei schwarzen Mannern 17,5, bei weiBen Frauen 7,7 und bei schwarzen Frauen 11,8 Neu­erkrankungen pro 100000 Einwohner und Jahr.
