Abstract

The clinical material of the author consisted of 487 patients with carcinoma of the larynx:

  • 180 (=37%) underwent horizontal partial laryngectomy,

  • 105 (=21%) underwent vertical partial laryngectomy,

  • 144 (=30%) had a total laryngectomy, while

  • 49 (=10%) had other kinds of reconstructive surgery, and

  • 9 cases (=2%) were treated by radiotherapy alone.
