Abstract
322 partial laryngectomies without radiotherapy of any form were performed between 1971–1981 (52% of all operated cases of laryngeal carcinoma). Thirty-two percent of all partial resections were vertical partial laryngectomies (103 cases). Among them 57% were limited procedures (cordectomy, fronto-lateral resection). 43% were extended partial laryngectomies (Gluck-Soerensen, Sedlacek, Meyer-Piquet and others). In 13 cases our method of repair, using a vascular pedicled thyroid flap, was applied. Crude 3-year survival, including 2% second-stage salvage total laryngectomies, was 90%.
