Der „polydiagnostische Ansatz“ in der psychiatrischen Forschung

Zusammenfassung

Die 70er Jahre werden von zukünftigen psychiatrischen Geschichtsschreibern als der Beginn einer Periode gesteigerten Methodenbewußtseins in der psychiatrischen Forschung angesehen werden. Auf allen Gebieten der Datenerhebung, im biologischen, psychologischen und sozialen Bereich, hat die Psychiatrie zunehmend Grundlagenwissen anderer Disziplinen in ihr Methodenarsenal aufgenommen und so z.B. gelernt, Blutspiegelmessungen von Hormonen oder Psychopharmaka durchzuführen, die familiäre Situation psychiatrischer Patienten präziser zu charakterisieren und die Streßbelastung von lebensverändernden Ereignissen zu messen. Auch in der Erfassung ihres Forschungsgegenstandes selbst, also in der Erfassung psychischer Störungen und psychischer Krankheiten, hat die Psychiatrie wesentliche Fortschritte erzielt. Immer häufiger werden untersuchte Patientenpopulationen nach operationalen Kriterien definiert, so daß die Patientenauswahl durch andere Forscher prinzipiell nachvollziehbar wird. Immer öfter werden die wissenschaftlichen Regeln der Epidemiologie bzw. des klinischen Versuches angewandt.
