Wachstumshormonstimulation und Depressionsforschung: Möglichkeiten und Grenzen

Zusammenfassung

Die Untersuchung der Wachstumshormon-(GH-)Stimulation bei der biologisch-psychiatrischen Erforschung depressiver Erkrankungen nimmt einen zunehmenden Raum ein, nachdem Mueller et al. [20] mitteilten, daß bei endogendepressiven und psychotisch-depressiven Patienten mit dem Insulinhypoglykämietest (IHT) eine geringere GH-Stimulation auftrat als bei neurotisch-depressiven Patienten. Dieser Untersuchungsbefund war Ausgang für weitere Untersuchungen mit der Frage, ob sich bei verschieden diagnostizierten Patientengruppen eine unterschiedliche GH-Stimulation zeigt. Des weiteren zeichnete sich in diesem Zusammenhang die Möglichkeit ab, mit Hilfe der GH-Sekretion Hinweise auf das pathologische Geschehen im ZNS bei depressiven Erkrankungen zu erarbeiten.
