Zusammenfassung

Obwohl Therapeuten es für wichtig halten mögen, daß Ehe- und Familientherapie einer Diagnose und Evaluation unterzogen wird, ist ein solches Vorgehen selten Gegenstand ernsthafter Diskussion und Debatte; es ist sogar noch weniger wahrscheinlich, daß ein solches Vorhaben systematisch durchgeführt wird, sowohl von Praktikern als auch von Forschern. Bis jetzt, so scheint es, wird Therapie noch immer so praktiziert und evaluiert, als ob es sich hierbei um eine Kunst und nicht etwa um eine Wissenschaft handelt. Unserer Ansicht nach ist Therapie eine Wissenschaft, die systematischere und strengere Evaluation erfordert.
