Zahlreiche Arbeiten haben bewiesen, daß die HWS einen Abschnitt der WS mit einer besonderen Pathologie darstellt. Besonders in Deutschland wurden auf diesem Gebiet zahlreiche Publikationen veröffentlicht, u.a. von Junghanns (1963), Kunert (1961), Hinz (1970), Gutmann (1962, 1981) u. A.1
