Zusammenfassung
Nach entsprechenden Vorarbeiten und der Entwicklung des modifizierten Guajaktests Haemoccult Ende der 60er Jahre hatte Greegor in den USA 1971 bei beschwerdefreien Erwachsenen — zusätzlich zur üblichen Vorsorgerektoskopie — das Screening nach Darmkrebs mit Haemoccult vorgeschlagen [12, 13]. Dieser Vorschlag fand zunächst kaum Beachtung, aber Glober in Hawaii [6], Hastings in Princetown [15] und Gnauck in Wiesbaden [7] führten 1972 unabhängig voneinander die ersten Feldstudien durch, die übereinstimmend Greegors Ergebnisse bestätigten. Das führte zu weiteren Studien, deren Resultate in Tabelle 1 und 2, getrennt für USA und Europa, zusammengefaßt sind. Berücksichtigt sind nur Studien bei ambulanten, asymptomatischen oder vorwiegend asymptomatischen Erwachsenen.
