Abstract

The percentage increase of older persons, as well as the doubling of the average expectation of life, since the middle of the last century, has had a significant influence on the development of gerontology in Germany (FDR). The following data should be of great interest not only to all agencies concerned with help and support for the aged, but also to the politicians.
