Pharmacological Aspects of Experimental Peripheral Neuropathy

  • Chapter
Book cover Metabolische und entzündliche Polyneuropathien

Zusammenfassung

In this chapter we will give a survey of our research on experimental neuropathies and suggest the therapeutical potential of gangliosides in their treatment. Basically, three models are utilized in our laboratory: neuromuscular recovery after traumatic lesion of the sciatic nerve in the rat, the phaeochromocytoma PC12 cell line, and the genetically diabetic mouse C57BL/KS (db/db). Each model will be described in detail in the materials and methods section.
