Resuscitation Potentials in Mass Disasters

  • Conference paper
Emergency and Disaster Medicine

Abstract

The study and implementation of the life-saving potential of modern resuscitation in mass disasters will be a legacy to the memory of Rudolf Frey, who was a special friend of many of us gathered here at this Congress. Frey was the first university department chairman of anesthesiology in West Germany and a co-initiator of many developments in acute medicine. In 1976, Frey began the Club of Mainz Association for Emergency and Disaster Medicine Worldwide. His humanitarianism and vision will inspire exciting new developments for years to come. Rudolf Frey died suddenly on December 23, 1981 at the age of 65. His memory, life, and accomplishments have been summarized in many eulogies by colleagues and friends [1 a].
