Abstract
The effect of increase of brain edema fluid itself on both the cerebral blood flow and the vascular responses remains unclear. In order to clear up these mechanisms, the effect on the tissue of increase of intracranial pressure and mechanical stress by brain edema fluid, must be excluded. In this experiment, the direct slow infusion edema model (reported by Marmarou et al.) is used. The effects on the cerebral blood flow and vascular responses at the edema area which are induced by infusion of the various infusates without any change of intracranial pressure and pressure-volume relationship are also studied.
