Psychische Leiden und psychische Erkrankungen im Alter

Zusammenfassung

Eine genaue Erfassung psychischer Störungen im fortgeschrittenen Lebensalter ist nicht leicht, insbesondere wenn man dem Anspruch gerecht werden will, allgemein repräsentative Ergebnisse zu erarbeiten. So sind die statistischen Angaben über die Altersverteilung statinär behandelter Patienten (in psychiatrischen Einrichtungen) anders als die Ergebnisse, die die Klientel eines niedergelassenen Nervenarztes berücksichtigen, die sich wiederum von denen des Allgemeinarztes unterscheiden. Andere Ergebnisse sind zu erwarten, wenn die Studien den Gesundheitszustand alter Menschen (über 65) im allgemeinen darstellen wollen, und zwar unabhängig davon, ob sie den Arzt aufsuchen oder nicht,

weil der psychisch gestörte alte Mensch den Arzt von sich aus zu selten oder kaum konsultiert [75,79,102].
