Zusammenfassung

Die Protektion der Luftwege bei bewußtlosen Patienten und die Therapie der respiratorischen Insuffizienz ist oft nur durch nasotracheale Intubation oder Tracheotomie möglich. Dabei fallen der Nasenrachenraum als Staub- und Bakterienfilter, als physiologisches Wärme- und Befeuchtungsaggregat, sowie die Glottis als physiologisches Überdruckventil des Hustenstoßes aus [35]. Der Ersatz dieser Funktionen muß deshalb Hauptbestandteil des therapeutischen Regimes sein. Erkennen und Minimierung der dabei möglichen Komplikationen stehen im Mittelpunkt aller pflegerischen Maßnahmen.
