Zusammenfassung
Wenn die normalen Luftwege mit einem Trachealtubus umgangen werden, dann sind die unteren Luftwege nicht in der Lage, das inhalierte Gasgemisch mit ausreichender Feuchtigkeit zu versorgen. Bei Spontanventilation beträgt das Feuchtigkeitsdefizit in Zimmerluft während eines 24 stündigen Zeitraums zwischen 400 und 500 ml [9]. Werden trockene anästhetische Gase zugeführt, dann ist dieses Defizit noch größer. Die Trachea und die Bronchien haben normalerweise nicht die Fähigkeit, eine solche Menge Feuchtigkeit zu produzieren. Das Ergebnis ist eine Inspissation der Sekrete und trockene Krusten, was zu einer Beeinträchtigung der mukoziliaren Clearance, zur Obstruktion der Atemwege und evtl. zur Atelektase führt.
