Unter den Mechanismen einer bis heute umstrittenen protektiven Wirkung von hochdosierten Glucocorticoiden im septischen Schock wird auch die Hemmung einer vermehrten Histaminneubildung durch Suppression des histaminbildenden Enzyms Histidindecarboxylase (HDC) diskutiert (1, 2).
