Abstract
The history of hip endoprosthetics began with cementless fixation and later experienced a “golden age” of cement fixation. Today, increasing efforts are being made to dispense with the use of methacrylate and return to the age of the uncemented arthroplasty. These efforts are chiefly motivated by reports of high loosening rates, whose morphologic picture at revision is one of a more or less pronounced resorption of the bone bed.
