The Cementless Fixation of Hip Endoprostheses

Abstract

The question of material is central to all considerations on the development of a cementless skeletal implant system that has good long-term stability. Even the best implant design, operating technique and postoperative management cannot ensure success if the bone-replacement material fails to meet the many specific demands that are placed upon it. Material is the major determinant of biological adaptation, solid bony integration and longevity of the implant.
