Summary
Recently one recognized that blood flow strongly depends on the viscosity of blood when the vasomotoric reserve is exhausted. So an increased viscosity of the blood can lead to a stasis of blood in the microcirculation. Finally stain will cause necrosis of the tissue. There are numerous therapeutical possibilities today to influence the fluidity of blood. Therefore the rheological efficiency of Venoruton® was studied. For this purpose blood of healthy volunteers was treated with 5 mmol/1 calcium (Ca2+). When 1 µmol/1 Venoruton® were added a significant improvement of the fluidity of blood could be demonstrated. In some cases the blood of patients with reduced blood circulation showed an improved fluidity after adding in vitro the same concentration of Venoruton®.
