Abstract
The evidence and the clinical applicability of angioeinedensitometry is very much determined by the reproducibility of the densitometric values measured. These values should be objective and comparable to each other. This is more important for the velocity profile and phase-dependent instantaneous flow volumina in pulsatile blood flow than for mean blood flow velocities and volumina. In any case the evaluation is based on the density curves measured from the X-ray film. Figure 1 shows such density curves, recorded at nearly the same region of the femoral artery in several patients. The curves clearly differ very much. They do contain information about distinct blood flow characterics, but mainly they contain false information. The falsifications are caused by the varying conditions of injection of contrast medium.
