Abstract

It has been shown that the perception of information in angiographic images can be decisively improved by digital image processing (Boehm et al. 1981; Mistretta et al. 1981; Brennecke et al. 1981). The application of one such technique, the method of parametric or functional imaging, to studies of the kidney, liver, brain, heart, and other organs has been described by our group in previous publications (Hoehne et al. 1978 a, b, 1979). First used in nuclear medicine, the fundamental idea of functional imaging is to replace a temporal sequence of images with a single static image which displays a certain aspect of the temporal change. The advantage of the method is twofold.
