Zusammenfassung

Limitierende Faktoren der Krebschemotherapie sind die Nebenwirkungen auf rasch proliferierende Zellsysteme wie die Hämopoese (Marsh 1976) und die Enteropoese. Im Vergleich zu den die therapeutischen Anstrengungen begrenzenden Nebeneffekten auf die Hämopoese haben die Nebeneffekte auf das Darmepithel nicht deren klinische Bedeutung. Dies ist nur so lange richtig, als ausschließlich die Digestion und Absorption von Nahrungsmitteln betrachtet wird. Hier liegt eine enorme Reservekapazität des Intestinaltrakts vor. Die Zerstörung der Schranke zwischen milieu exterieur (Darminhalt) und milieu interieur (Blut) bringt mit sich, daß nun vermehrt Moleküle ins Blut übertreten, die dies sonst nur in minimalem Umfang können: bakterielle Toxine, antigenwirksame Moleküle sowie u.U. Viren und Bakterien. Im Zusammenwirken mit der Suppression der Leukopoese kann diese gestörte Barrierefunktion (Ecknauer U. Rommel 1978) des Intestinaltrakts ernsthafte klinische Bedeutung erlangen.
