Zusammenfassung

Als Karzinoide (Oberndorfer 1907) bezeichnet man epitheliale, häufig hor-monaktive Tumoren, die sich von den Zellen des diffusen, endokrinen Systems in den Organen des embryonalen Darmrohrs vom Kiemen- bis zum Enddarm (Williams U. Sandler 1963) aber auch im Urogenitaltrakt ableiten (Williams et al. 1980). Da diese Tumoren ein unterschiedliches Spektrum endokriner oder biochemischer Aktivität aufweisen, ist der Begriff Karzinoid im wesentlichen morphologisch charakterisiert (Soga 1976). Er wird durch histochemische, biochemische und immunhistologische Methoden weiter präzisiert.
