Zusammenfassung

Schwindel nach Schädelhirntraumen stellt ein häufiges, in seiner diagnostischen Wertigkeit oft unspezifisches und vieldeutiges Krankheitssymptom dar. Ursachen des Schwindels sind traumatische Schädigungen des peripheren wie des zentralen Anteils des vestibulären Systems. Bei den peripheren Schädigungen läßt sich zwischen Schädelhirntraumen mit Felsenbeinfraktur und Schädelhirntraumen ohne Felsenbeinfraktur unterscheiden. Schwindel und Hörstörungen peripheren Ursprungs sind nach Schädelhirntraumen mit Felsenbeinfrakturen öfter zu finden als bei den geschlossenen Schädelhirntraumen ohne Frakturen (5, 6).
