Zusammenfassung

Wachstum, Vermehrung und Zelldifferenzierung eines Organismus setzen eine ausreichende Ernährung voraus. Nährstoffe für Mikroorganismen sind lösliche und in der Regel niedermolekular Verbindungen, die durch Aufnahmesysteme der Cytoplasmamembran aus der Kulturflüssigkeit in das Zellinnere transportiert und dort umgesetzt werden. Makromolekulare, unlösliche Substanzen können durch ausgeschiedene Exoenzyme der Mikroorganismen aufgeschlossen und die niedermolekularen Abbauprodukte den Stoffaufnahmesystemen der Zelle zugänglich gemacht werden (z.B. Zellulose, Stärke, Proteine).
