Zusammenfassung
Die Pathophysiologie im Anschluß an die Initialphase eines Verbrennungstraumas ist dadurch charakterisiert, daß der Organismus allmählich in einen schweren Streßzustand versetzt wird, der vor allem durch Hypermetabolismus, Katabolismus, Anämie sowie großen Wasser- und Wärmeverlust gekennzeichnet ist. In schweren Fällen ist die Infektionsabwehr herabgesetzt, was Wund- und Allgemeininfektionen zur Folge hat. Das Ausmaß der Veränderungen steht mit der Ausdehnung der Vollhautverbrennungen in Zusammenhang.
