Zusammenfassung

Ein isolierter Ventrikelseptumdefekt (VSD) besteht bei etwa 2 von 1000 Lebendgeborenen und stellt damit den häufigsten angeborenen Herzfehler dar [17]. 25% aller angeborenen Herzfehler machen einen isolierten VSD aus [21]. Da gerade dieser Herzfehler einen verschiedenartigen natürlichen Verlauf und eine weitgespannte Pathophysiologic aufweisen kann, bedürfen die Indikationen zur Operation und die Wahl des richtigen Operationszeitpunktes sorgfältiger Überlegungen. Auf chirurgischem Wege sind heute hervorragende Ergebnisse zu erzielen. Dazu ist jedoch ein präzises Verständnis der anatomischen Varianten des VSD und der entsprechenden Operationstechniken Voraussetzung.
