Abstract
Hepatic release of inorganic fluoride during halothane anaesthesia has been shown to indicate a reductive metabolic pathway resulting in the formation of other, potentially hepatotoxic halothane metabolites [Widger et al. 1976]. This knowledge is mainly based on experimental studies and obviously raises the question: “Does hepatic reductive halothane metabolism occur during clinical halothane anaesthesia in man”?
