Abstract
Therapeutic angiographers are now familiar with a variety of embolization techniques, each adapted to specific needs. For example, preoperative or palliative tumor embolization fulfills a totally different purpose than embolization of a bleeding artery. In the first instance the technique of choice produces complete tissue ischemia, in the second instance a limited arterial occlusion is required and tissue loss is a complicating effect.
