Abstract
Endogenous catecholamines are of special importance in the regulation of cardiovascular functions, as well as in the control of metabolic processes [37]. This is particularly true with regard to carbohydrate and fat metabolism. In metabolic fields, catecholamines exert their action via β1- and/or β2-receptors, whereas the sympathetic influence on the heart is mainly mediated by β1-receptors [37].
