Beta-Blockers in the Elderly

Abstract

The pharmacological profile of a drug is dependent on its pharmacodynamics, i.e., its mode of action at the target organs, and on its pharmacokinetic parameters. These parameters include the liberation of the drug from its formulation, its absorption from the site of application, its distribution within the body, and its elimination via metabolism and excretion, and thus determine how the drug gets access to its target organs.
