Part of the book series: Reactivity and Structure Concepts in Organic Chemistry ((REACTIVITY,volume 14))

Abstract

Organosilyl azides have proved themselves useful as reagents in organic synthesis. On the basis of the analogy between a trimethylsilyl group and a proton, trimethylsilyl azide (TMS-N3) might be expected to demonstrate reactivity and toxicity similar to that of hydrazoic acid.
