Abstract
The prepontine cistern is the subarachnoid space between the clivus -the ventral aspect of the pons — and the anteromedial aspect of the petrous pyramid (Fig. 116). The cerebellopontine cistern is the subarachnoid space between the cerebellum, the pontomedullary junction and the posteromedial aspect of the petrous pyramid (Fig. 116). The cerebellopontine cistern is anteriorly and medially continuous with the prepontine cistern and laterally with the subarachnoid space around the cerebellum.
