Zusammenfassung

Im Gehirn sind unter normalen Bedingungen Funktion und Stoffwechsel gekoppelt, wobei die Blutzufuhr entsprechend den Stoffwechselbedürfnissen geregelt wird. Chronische Funktionsstörungen können einerseits durch pathologisch verminderten Stoffwechsel bzw. mangelhafte Blutzufuhr verursacht sein, sie führen aber selbst zu Reduktion von Stoffwechsel und Durchblutung, wenn sie auf anderer oder bisher nicht definierbarer Grundlage entstehen. Von pathologischen primären oder sekundären Änderungen von Durchblutung und Stoffwechsel müssen altersbedingte Schwankungen abgegrenzt werden.
