Zusammenfassung

Toxische Colondilatationen (toxisches Megacolon) sind als Komplikation ulceröser und granulomatosa Colitiden selten. Das klinische Bild des toxischen Megacolons wird beherrscht durch hohes Fieber, profuse Durchfälle, durch Störungen des Wasser-, Eiweiß- und Elektrolythaushaltes, oft durch eine ausgeprägte Lethargie der Patienten [18]. Das häufig kombinierte Auftreten mit Perforationen und profusen, unstillbaren Blutungen erklärt die hohe Mortalität dieser „darmeigenen“ Komplikationen chronisch-entzündlicher Dickdarmerkrankungen [5, 21, 22, 27, 29, 33, 35, 61, 64].
