Abstract

Ovarian tumors comprise about 1% of all tumors in children under 15 years old. The relative frequencies of childhood solid tumor types are shown in Table 1. Since Wilms’ tumor appears to occur with constant frequency throughout the world, a number of investigators have suggested using it as an index to show the relative frequencies of other tumors. In the series of Young et al. (1978) there are for each case of Wilms’ tumor 3.2 cases of brain tumors, and about 0.4 cases of gonadal tumors.
